|Pan-dems scoff at dubious claims by MTRC, fire services|
The opposition lawmakers have questioned the credibility of the evidence provided by officials, saying the explanations they gave were not very convincing, RTHK reports.
The pan-democrtaic camp's convener, Claudia Mo Man-ching, said she obtained a transcript showing that fire services department staff on site originally reported that nine people were injured that night, before changing the count to 10, then revising it to nine and eventually concluding that seven people had been hurt.
"The Fire Service department spokesman kept on saying there were plenty of injured people. But by plenty, let us be brutally honest, seven or 10 are not exactly vast numbers," she said. "How can they be so wrong?"
The lawmaker said explanations such as that some of them were dressed up in similar colors and some didn't want to go to hospital are not very convincing arguments.
She said that the still images released by the MTR is not very convincing and is unlikely to ally people's concerns.
The pro-democracy camp also hit out at Chief Executive Carrie Lam for refusing to criticize Executive Councillor Fanny Law Fan Chiu-fun for making the controversial allegation that underage girls offered sex to protesters.
